Our President’s No Pit Bull… But a Mutt Like Me

I love Barack Obama.

No secret there… no one’s falling over in shock as they read this thinking, “Really? I would have pegged her a McCain chick…”

I love his stance on social issues, I respect the choices he has made in his life, I am inspired by his family- his beautiful and very gracious wife Michelle, as well as their two daughters.

I appreciate his character and strength.

Perhaps most of all, I love his sense of humor.

This was such an emotional campaign… and for all the times he gave us goosebumps or made us cry because of the weight of his words… he has made us laugh.

While certainly no “average” American, he does remember what it was like to be one… he doesn’t pretend to know what he’s doing every second of every day… nor does he try to trick us into thinking he has all the right answers all the time.

When he speaks of his family, I get the sense that he is not the almighty Commander in Chief in his household, but rather, just Dad and hubby.

I was watching some clips from Obama’s press conference yesterday, and once again our President Elect made me proud.

He also made me laugh.

Seems the Obama household faces a dilemma in getting that puppy that was promised to Sasha and Malia.

Due to allergies, it will be necessary to get a hypo-allergenic pooch…

… But if the decision were President Obama’s, he’d prefer “A mutt, just like me”.

Regular readers of mine know that I, too, am a mutt…

… And as such, couldn’t be happier, or more ready to serve my new President.

Here’s the clip:

Tryin' to get the hang of this life thing... one step at a time!

  1. Lets Give Our New President Elect a Chance.

Most people who voted for Obama had no idea who he was or what he was. I guess the media did a good job selling him. McCain, although he is a good man, wasn’t picked by republicans to run. He was picked by Democrat crossover voters in states who allow non party members to vote under any ticket they want. After they did that they went back to their Democrat home. McCain is no conservative. He doesn’t seem to realize that when a republican walks across the aisle to work with Democrats they break your leg. If you reach across the aisle they break your arm. Their idea of bi-partisanship is simple. You give up your principals and do what we want. Coming together to them means that you compromise your ideas and accept theirs.

The biggest danger, even if Republicans regain control of congress in two years, will be all the judicial appointments that will be made in that time. I only hope that they will be unable to stack the supreme court with liberal appointments. FDR had 20 years to stack the court and it took a lifetime to turn it around.

Of course we must not be too cruel to our new president. We should not call him a liar.

We should not call him a liar when he said he wanted to bankrupt the coal industry.

We should not call him a liar when he said utility bills would skyrocket because of the coal industry being regulated and taxed to death.

We should not call him a liar when he said he wanted to redistribute the wealth.

We should not call him a liar when he said he wanted to replace the military with a civillian force.

We should not call him a liar when he said he wanted to meet with Iran without preconditions.

We should not call him a liar when he said he wanted to invade Pakistan.

We should not call Biden a liar when he said that supreme court appointments should be made based more on the nominees philosophical views than on their judicial temperment. Can you say litmus test?

Hold onto your money belt we are in for a five ticket ride.

I could go on and on but I think you get the point.

  2. tommy49646-

    You’re silly.

People do not know who or what the Republican party is… it is not Obama that is in the midst of an identity crisis. It’s you.

The Republicans ran an empty campaign. There were no concrete issues and certainly no philosophy for the American people to even vote for. The party instead ran on negativity and hate… and for this reason, you lost.

People didn’t vote for Obama out of ignorance, people voted for Obama because he gave them something in the way of substance to vote FOR… something to believe in.

Conservatives tried their best to convince America that Obama represents the scary, the unknown… and after 8 years of the Bush Administration’s scare-tactics and empty fear campaigns, we’d simply had enough.

You can call Obama anything you want- liar included- but your message doesn’t represent one single bit of information that we haven’t heard a thousand times in the past. The fact is, we’ve heard all this nonsense over and over again… and we STILL chose our President accordingly. Plain and simple, NOBODY CARED.

At the end of the day, whatever Obama’s shortcomings may be, they were not so great that people were unwilling to vote for him.

The Republicans couldn’t compete with Obama’s campaign, with his immensely popular stance on the issues, and so they instead launched a smear campaign.

Conservatives have plenty of (mostly manufactured) reasons for why they feel we shouldn’t vote for Obama… but couldn’t give us a single, non-hate-filled reason to vote for their guy instead.

    Not a single reason.

If the Republican party is to survive- and personally, I don’t give a damn if it doesn’t- the only way it’s going to happen is for Republicans to take some responsibility for themselves.

You will need to do some soul-searching and realize- truly understand- that we, as Americans, are sick of your b.s.

As a nation, we have spoken. We elected the man who represented hope and change… a chance to take our country back from the ignorance, negativity and hate it had previously fallen to.

As a conservative, it is now up to you to take responsibility for your party’s stunning loss on November 4th, and figure out what it is that YOU- not Barack Obama, not the citizens of this country- did wrong.

Until then, you are making yourselves look absolutely ridiculous.
