I didn’t sleep a wink last night in anticipation of voting today.

I’m like a little kid… just so excited!

I won’t sleep again, I’m sure, until we know who our new president will be.

God bless Obama… and let’s hope he kicks some ass!

John McCain, Ambulances and Meet the Press

I watched John McCain on Meet the Press this morning.

Wow.

What a cranky old man.

Tom Brokaw was a gracious host… and wasn’t terribly tough on McCain… though he did ask him a few hot-button issue-type questions…

A few times, I really thought McCain was about to blow a fuse or have a coronary or something.

I wonder if they had an ambulance standing by… you know… just in case?

Shit.

This man is not only a danger to our country, but he’s a danger to his own health…

I have serious concerns about a man who wants to lead the free world and can’t hold it together- keep his temper in check- during an interview in which he’s simply asked about his sagging numbers in the polls.

Barack Obama, in contrast, has been called an Arab, a terrorist, a n*gger, a halfbreed Muslim (not that there’s anything wrong with being a halfbreed  or a Muslim), a Communist, a Socialist, a Marxist, his wife has been portrayed as a scary left-wing black panther nut, he’s had his life threatened, his patriotism and citizenship questioned…

… And has managed to remain calm and likeable, presidential in demeanor, and he never lost his sense of humor, let alone his temper as a result of any of it.

Obama is simply ready to lead.

He has handled himself so well in contrast to McCain that I find myself believing that Senator Barack Obama was born to take on this role.

These are legitimately scary times… certainly scary enough without the added hate-fueled lies that the McCain campaign has endorsed and helped spread about the Dems and Barack Obama.

McCain is a mess.

Democratic Senators’ Homes Vandalized… Why Is McCain So Quiet?

Tonight we hear news that Missouri Senators Claire McCaskill and Russ Carnahan have had their homes vandalized.

Authorities found words spray painted on the properties… “traitor”… “Bailout for China is treason”… and my personal favorite, “Psalm 2”.

For those who may not be aware, here is Psalm 2, from the Bible, in its entirety:

2:1 Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”

Both of the victims- representatives- are Democrats.

The news comes on the heels of the case of Ashley Todd… it was mere days ago that the public learned what a race-baiting liar the woman truly is.

I have some thoughts…

McCain’s campaign has done its very best to paint Barack Obama, as well as Democrats, as the racist, anti-American nut-jobs.

Yet it is the GOP, John McCain and Sarah Palin that have been encouraging the divisive hatred that has truly polarized this country.

It is a McCain supporter- and campaign volunteer- that attempted to incite further hatred by lying about being viciously attacked and mutilated by a black man- an act of violence motivated by her support of Senator John McCain.

McCain/Palin rallies and right wing blog sites are full of racism and hatred.

People claim Obama is a socialist… a communist… an Arab… a terrorist… unpatriotic…

… Others subscribe to ridiculous theories that he wasn’t even born in the U.S., but rather in Kenya or Indonesia.

Throughout all of it, Barack Obama has been calm and steady under pressure.

He has never fought hatred with hatred… he never stooped to McCain-and-cronies’ dispicable levels… and instead has led by example.

By remaining consistent he has exposed the hypocrisy of a nation in crisis.

Over and over again the GOP has done its best to trip Obama and his supporters… they have perpetuated an environment of lies and ugliness…

… When Ashley Todd- one of their own- claimed to have been attacked by a rabid Obama supporter, it was the McCain campaign that exploited the entire ordeal…

They stand eerily quiet on this night, while Ms. Todd is incarcerated because of her lies… lies she told on their behalf… lies they have yet to condemn…

Eerily quiet as two Senators, Democrats who represent the state of Missouri, have had their homes vandalized by McCain supporters.

Their silence speaks volumes…

… And is much louder than any words they could ever bother vocalizing.

Puppies, the GOP and Denial

Sarah Palin denies spend on clothes was £90,000I believe I’ve identified one of McCain’s campaign tactics…

If bad press rears its ugly head, step one is to attempt to diffuse it… and when that doesn’t work…

Deny.

Even if the reason for the bad press is legitimate and true, and campaign spokespeople- and candidates themselves- have already acknowledged it…

… even if it can easily be proven, deny the hell out of it.

I’ve witnessed this at least twice now.

Initially, the tactic was used with regards to the hateful garbage that was coming out of angry conservatives’ mouths at recent McCain/Palin rallies.

With people losing their damn minds, screaming such horrific nonsense as, “Kill him!”, “Treason!”, “Terrorist!” and “Off with his head!”, the GOP initially tried to pretend it was no big deal.

Never mind the fact that they were inciting racial hatred and violence

Whatever.

I mean really… those damn liberals take everything too seriously.

Death threats?

Stop being so literal! It’s not like anyone’s really going to kill Obama…

Right?

Regardless, playing the nut-role didn’t translate very well in the polls, and the Republicans found themselves scrambling… the public at large, it seemed, expected them to condemn such behavior… not condone it.

So next thing you know, suddenly Palin-Poodle and McCain-Maverick begin condemning the remarks… they waited for their numbers to rise in the polls… and…

… Nothing happened.

Most likely nothing happened because regular ol’ America is tired of the b.s.

We are smart enough to realize that Frick and Frack over here with the GOP started the negativity to begin with.

Hell, days before their campaign took a turn towards the 11th century, they warned us they were going to do it… it was time to get nasty.

Regardless, their little impromptu KKK time just didn’t work.

Not in their favor anyway.

So the next thing they did was…

Deny.

Suddenly the blogosphere was filled with conspiracy theories about mainstream media… how as much as we regular Joes heard the shit with our own ears… it never happened.

No one had yelled for Obama’s death and decapitation… that damn liberal media made it all up.

After inciting it… then very publicly acknowledging it by pretending to condemn it… suddenly Palin and McCain are playing dumb… denying the hatred and death threats were ever a part of their rallies.

They want you to think it never happened.

I call bullshit.

Seriously.

Thankfully none of that “it never happened” crap ever made it as far as a single reputable news source.

Sorry- bloggers really do not count.

Fast forward the clock to just this past week, and we have news that the McCain Campaign has spent over $150,000 on Sarah Palin’s wardrobe.

We also learn that McCain’s highest-paid campaign staffer is…

Wait for it…

… Sarah Palin’s make-up artist.

The woman made damn near $23,000 in the first two weeks of October.

Uhhh…

Wow.

Is that more than, say, their foreign policy advisor made?

You betcha!

Sounds a little excessive for a puppy dog… even if it is all grown up and wearing lipstick.

I don’t think Joe-the-plumbing-six-pack can actually relate to someone who spends more on clothes and make-up in 7 weeks than he spends in a lifetime… for his entire family.

Initially, McCain’s campaign did their best to spin the shit outta this thing…

They aren’t keeping the clothing, they assured a very concerned America… no worries… the items will be auctioned off for charity or simply given back

See?

No harm, no foul.

Again the campaign waits with bated breath…

… “Will they believe us? Will the polls tip back to our favor?”…

Hell no.

So now what?

Deny, deny, deny.

Now we suddenly see Palin on the boob-tube claimin’ nobody spent that type of money on her clothing…

… How she’s so frugal… gosh, if people could only see how frugal her family really is…

Whatever.

Note to Sarah-

We aren’t talking about your family, pit bull lady.

We’re talking about the campaign’s spending… on you… at Neimann-Marcus and Sak’s…

Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama for President

Colin Powell has endorsed Barack Obama for President.
 
I woke up early this morning so I could be sure to catch Meet the Press… I knew Colin Powell was going to be on the show, and I had heard rumors that he may be ready to endorse a candidate.
 
I didn’t want to miss it.
 
I’ve known who my candidate was for months now…
 
… But to know that this man, a man who I respect so immensely has come to the same conclusion as me means a lot.
 
Colin Powell explained in detail why he is endorsing Barack Obama for President, and his words moved me to tears.
 
This was not a decision he came to lightly.
 
It was not easy to walk away from his personal friends- John McCain and George H.W. Bush among them- and tell the world that he will not be voting with his party or his colleagues come election day.
 
I am proud to stand in support of Barack Obama alongside such great men as Colin Powell… November 4th is just around the corner…
 
I pray the best man wins.

Fruity Pebbles, The Debate and Temper Tantrums

Alright, so I think I have finally solved the mystery of what caused John McCain’s cancer issues.

Nuclear Power.

In last night’s debate, McCain told the crowd that nuclear energy is completely safe, using the example that he had been aboard a ship- for years- that had nuclear-energy-type-stuff on it.

Fast forward the clock to present… and the man, as we all know, has had multiple bouts with cancer (4!!).I'm voting for THAT ONE - Obama 2008 ((Jr. Ringer)

Maybe there’s a connection.

Then again, maybe not.

Regardless…

McCain again made a complete ass out of himself at the debate last night.

The man could not bring himself to be even the slightest bit gracious to Barack Obama.

Further, how ignorant does one have to be to actually think it’s appropriate to address a fellow senator- during a presidential debate- as “that one”?

I don’t know what the Republican ticket is hoping to accomplish… other than jackass-ery at its finest… between the “Say it ain’t so, Joe” coming from Palin’s mouth, and then McCain’s “that one” comment from last night… peppered with all the “darn it”‘s and such… and finalized with exclamations such as “treason!”, “kill him!” and “off with his head!” at the latest Republican rallies- they were talking about Obama, of course…

… This has turned into an all out celebration by the bigoted small-minded folks across America.

Sigh.

McCain and Palin have now sunk so low that they are unable to tell their own supporters that calling for Senator Obama’s death is not appropriate?

Shocking…

Or not.

Desperation is a powerful force…

These two are behaving like children who didn’t get their way in the grocery store.

“But Mo-o-om… we wanted the Fruity Pebbles! Don’t make us eat Oat Bran aga-a-i-i-n!”

Whine.

Since neither McCain nor Palin can come anywhere near touching Obama and Biden on the actual issues… they’ll instead resort to Joe-Six-Pack-Speak, name calling and condoning death threats against the opponent.

Oh well- Senator McCain can call Senator Obama anything he wants to for now…

… Before long, however, Barack Obama will be nothing short of “Mr. President”.

VP Debates, Stupid People and Richard Nixon

I have a few thoughts about the VP Debate last night…

Shocking, I know.

I think Sarah Palin did a great job…

… Well, she did a great job in speaking to the uneducated masses, anyway.

She also did a great job reading from her script.

I’m glad to learn, for all her shortcomings, Sarah Palin is not illiterate.

She can read with the best of ’em!

Unfortunately, her script was incomplete… so she wasn’t able to answer all of the questions… I guess the Republicans only had enough time to write out the basics for her.

At various points she both cleverly and not-so-cleverly avoided answering the moderator… but since she managed to be cute about it, I doubt Joe Six-Pack really minded that much.

My favorite example of her question-dodging came when the moderator asked the two candidates to explain the differences between Obama’s health care plan and McCain’s. It was Biden’s turn to answer first, and he nailed it- knocked the shit right out of the park.

When it was Palin’s turn, she says, “I want to go back to energy”.

*Uncomfortable Silence*

Huh? You want to go back to energy?

Well honey, I’d like to go back to a lot of things- my pleasant, stress-free childhood, for example- but… um…

Could you answer the question please?

No?

Oh ok.

Moving on then.

The woman didn’t even pretend like she knew what the hell to say about health care.

I don’t blame her- I wouldn’t have been able to defend McCain’s I’m-going-to-give-all-Americans-a-$5,000-tax-credit-to-purchase-a-$12,000-plan excuse for a health care policy either.

Sigh.

Anyway, onward…

Governor Palin’s script-reading talent does not equate to presentation-talent. She behaved completely inappropriately on more than one occasion…

I don’t know- seems that the VP Debate really isn’t the proper forum to be giving “shout outs” and saying such undignified things as “darn it” over and over again.

I had the TV on this morning as I was getting ready for work… I was listening to CBS… and as I was getting ready to jump in the shower, I heard someone on the news comment about how Senator Biden looked Presidential- like he was ready to lead- while Palin looked… mayoral.

Not surprising that she didn’t look the part, considering she simply isn’t ready to step into the position Senator McCain has thrown her in.

There is one thing, however, that she truly is the best possible candidate for:

Representing the stupid people of America.

Who better to represent a legion of idiots than an idiot herself?

Now hold on, Palin-puppies- before you go getting all offended and shit, allow me to explain the historic precedence for this…

Then you can get offended.

Way back in 1970, Richard Nixon nominated a fella by the name of G. Harrold Carswell for U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

The man had little by way of experience, and was not a very good judge. In fact, a whopping 58% of his rulings were reversed on appeal.

Terrible.

When the American people- and a whole bunch of politicians- complained about the fact that this man was so obviously, blatantly, completely and totally unqualified to sit on the bench of the Supreme Court… Senator Roman Hruska (Republican, Nebraska) stated, in Carrswell’s defense:

 Even if he is mediocre, there are a lot of mediocre judges and people and lawyers. They are entitled to a little representation, aren’t they, and a little chance?

Yeah.

That’s a direct quote.

So obviously, this notion of “stupid people deserve representation too” is not a new concept.

Ridiculous, perhaps, but not new.

It is Sarah Palin’s forte’.

John McCain, in nominating this complete and total trainwreck of a politician is saying to all of America,

Even if she is stupid, there are a lot of stupid people in this country. They are entitled to a little representation, aren’t they, and a little chance?

So hey all you Palin-poodles…

If you don’t mind Senator McCain calling you stupid…

Sarah Palin, Foreign Policy, and the Irony of Country First

John McCain is crying again.

He thinks the media is tricking his poor little Pitt Bull Palin into looking like she is so desperately- horribly- out of her league.

Uh…

Right.

None of this could have anything to do with the fact that she is out of her league…

Could it?

Shit- now it’s gotten so bad that I’m not only questioning McCain’s judgment in picking this feisty animal as his hopeful #2 in command- but honestly, I question the soundness of his mind.

Especially considering his most recent claims… that he has asked Governor Palin for advice on foreign policy “many times”.

Wow.

I don’t know guys… that actually scares the living hell out of me…

… And begs the question…

Why in the world would he be asking her for foreign policy advice?

More importantly, what the hell is he asking Little Miss I-have-foreign-policy-experience-because-my-middle-of-nowhere-state-is-close-to-Russia that he doesn’t already know the answer to?

What could she possibly tell Senator McCain about foreign policy?

The woman is beyond ignorant… she is the most clueless political-wanna-be to ever roam the planet…

A planet that she believes humans inhabited- as recently as 6,000 years ago- with dinosaurs, by the way… as in, both dinosaurs and people lived in harmony here on earth… together…

Simultaneously.

… But I digress.

Back to foreign policy.

McCain is asking for advice from Sarah Palin, who went on national TV to explain that since Georgia is our NATO ally, we should strongly consider going to war with Russia.

She didn’t know enough to realize- Georgia is not part of NATO.

Moving on… this oh-so-smart lady recently told the good folks in Philadelphia that we should absolutely reserve the right to launch cross-border attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistan, in case it becomes necessary to “stop terrorists from coming any further in”

Funny.

John McCain doesn’t think we should entertain that option… in fact, he retracted her statements when questioned about them (really? You can retract other people’s statements?)…

But…

Her statements were strangely reminiscent of Obama’s own stance on the Afghanistan-Pakistan-border-fiasco.

Sigh.

She agreed with McCain’s opponent… but not because she honestly agrees with his stance… but because… she’s too dumb to understand what she’d actually said.

Oh, but she isn’t finished yet…

During her now-infamous interview Katie Couric, Palin, speaking out of complete and total ignorance, actually endorses Hamas (you know- the terrorist group? Yes, that Hamas).

Couric had asked Governor Palin what happens when “the goal of democracy doesn’t produce the desired outcome? In Gaza, the U.S. pushed hard for elections, and Hamas won”… to which our esteemed John McCain running-mate replied:

Yeah, well especially in that region, though, we have to protect those who do seek democracy and support those who seek protections for the people who live there. What we’re seeing in the last couple of days here in New York is a President of Iran, Ahmadinejad, who would come on our soil and express such disdain for one of our closest allies and friends, Israel … and we’re hearing the evil that he speaks and if hearing him doesn’t allow Americans to commit more solidly to protecting the friends and allies that we need, especially there in the Mideast, then nothing will.

Alright listen up, because it’s worth repeating.

Dumb-dumb Sarah Palin just endorsed Hamas.

Does she endorse them because she supports them?

Absolutely not.

She endorsed them because she doesn’t know what the fuck she’s talking about.

Someone very close to me recently told me something…

He said some people are so blinded- by racism, by ignorance, by their party, by classism- that they will support “one of their own” at all costs.

Even when doing so poses a real threat to our very country.

If I wasn’t witnessing the shenanigans of McCain, his brand new best friend and all their supporters first hand, I would have begged to differ.

I would have said Americans, regardless of party lines, put America first.

The GOP’s own slogan during the Convention was “Country First”… ironic, considering how absolutely dangerous this woman is to our very safety, stability… our rights… our everything…

Well Repbublicans, you could have fooled me.

Seriously…

Get the hell out of here with that Country First bullshit.

The Suspension That Never Was…

Deep down, I knew this shit was too good to be true.

The GOP ticket is so full of empty promises- it’s enough to break a girl’s heart.

So while everyone else was busy suspending McCain’s campaign, he was busy…

Um…

Campaigning.

Naw- he didn’t actually hightail it to Washington to steer the Senate masses in the right direction so as to pass this economic bailout thing.

I know, I know- that’s what he said he was going to do… but… well…

He didn’t.

He was much too busy for any of that bailout nonsense- I mean, he has a suspended campaign to run!

And what he was unable to accomplish… you know… since his campaign was suspended and all…

He delegated to his talking heads.

Tucker Bounds and Nicolle Wallace found time- overcoming the broken heart I’m certain a suspended campaign might cause- to hang out at MSNBC…

Now to an untrained eye, it may have looked like they were continuing to campaign… but I know that can’t possibly be the case… because the campaign has actually been suspended…

Right?

Right.

The great Senator had to get to Washington right away to help Congress save the world by way of bailing out the financial sector…

Or not.

You see, McCain was actually AWOL as of 10 AM this morning, while the rest of Congress was busy ironing out a bailout plan that taxpayers may just be able to survive.

Um… Why wasn’t he there, you ask?

Perhaps it’s because he was kinda busy campaigning (ohhhh what a dirty word, when one has sworn to cease campaigning) at the Clinton Global Initiative.

Wow.

For those who may be curious, There isn’t actually any economic bailout talking- or voting- occuring there.

If I didn’t know better, I’d be suspicious, thinking maybe McCain didn’t suspend that daggone campaign after all!

He also managed to make a little time to talk to Katie Couric– no, not about the bailout he’s so hell bent on suspending shit over- but rather…  

… His campaign.

He was, however, much too busy to come through for David Letterman, as scheduled…

Or to commit to participating in the debates on Friday… and he really kinda thinks it’s necessary to reschedule the VP debates too, while we’re at it.

Sigh.

Perhaps I’m being a bit unfair.

He did manage to show up in Washington today around 4PM, just in time for the hand-holding, peace-pipe smoking photo op session with George Bush.

Only in America…

… Do people actually buy into this shit.

Depression, Captains and Multi-Tasking

McCain has announced that he will be suspending his campaign to concentrate solely on the economy.

He wants Obama to put his campaign on hold too- and has asked that Friday’s presidential debates be cancelled.

Obama’s cool taking the partisan route with McCain, and coming up with an economic plan-of-action… in fact, it was Obama’s idea to try and work with McCain on this train-wreck to begin with… but…

Cancel the debates?

Suspend his campaign?

I don’t think so.

As Obama rightly pointed out, Presidents have to be able to multi-task.

He feels completely capable of continuing his campaign, debating McCain on Friday as planned, and working on a solution to this looming economic crisis… all at the same time.

Quite frankly, if you can’t pull off a debate a mere 41 days before people are going to have to decide whether to vote for your ass or not and still manage to work on an economic package that Congress will actually pass…

… Then what are you doing running for Prez to begin with?

This country has all kinds of shit going on at any given moment… two wars to fight, economic issues, poverty issues, rebuilding from natural disaster issues, racial issues, environmental issues, unemployment issues, abortion issues, womens’ rights issues, gay rights issues, immigration issues, health care issues…

See?

All kinds of stuff.

Obama’s right- it’s imperative to go forward with the debates… we need to hear from the guys who are hoping to become the captain of this fubar ship.

If MSNBC’s most recent poll is any indication, 69.1% of my fellow Americans agree.

McCain is simply in panic mode.

He’s in big trouble, Obama’s whuppin’ him in the polls- again- and he knows he’s got nothing- absolutely nothing- to bring to the table anymore.

As Ben Smith so aptly noted, McCain’s just unhappy about the direction his campaign is headed… “the only thing that’s changed in the last 48 hours is the public polling.”

Senator McCain admitted yesterday that he hasn’t even bothered to read the bailout proposal…

Uh oh.

I think maybe he ought to puruse that sucker…

Since he’s suspending his campaign on account of it and all.

Just sayin’.

… But…

We’re to believe that this same man…

Who doesn’t even find the bailout proposal important enough to read through (let’s face it- regardless of how this thing turns out, he won’t be losing any of his 7 homes, 13 cars or five-hundred-and-some-odd-dollar shoes) really wants to suspend his campaign and put “country first” so he can help hammer out this economic plan?

Right.

What’s that line the dems like to say?

Something about, “If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge in Alaska I’d like to sell you…”

Exactly.

We all know what’s really goin’ on.

You see- unlike Sarah Palin- who thinks if this bailout doesn’t pass we’re at risk for another Great Depression

We aren’t stupid.

FDIC anyone?

The economic crisis has provided McCain the perfect excuse to do what he really wanted to all along…

Abort mission.

Jump ship.

Take his ball and go home.

McCain just doesn’t want to play anymore.

Good riddance Maverick-Man.
